Abstract

Geometric non-linearity is increasingly being considered in everyday structural analysis especially for post-buckling behaviour. In this paper a geometrically non-linear FEA plate and shell formulation is presented using corotational theory which has the ability to allow quite large rotations between load increments. This considerably reduces computational time. The method is simple and relies on a series of spacial transformations that make it easy to incorporate into existing FE codes.
