Abstract

The post - buckling behaviour of cylindrical shells, with geometric and material nonlinearities, which subjected to axial compression, is analysed by the method of weighted residuals in this paper. The incremental governing differential equations are derived from the equilibrium and strain - displacement relations, and are solved by Galerkin - collocation method. For plastic analysis, the Prandtl - Reuss flow rule and von Mises yield criterion are used. Numerical calculations are performed for different geometric parameters and material properties. Compared present results with those of experiments, they are in good agreement each other.
