Fluid element for static analysis using displacements as nodal variables
Abstract
A fluid element, using displacements as nodal variables, is described. This element, when used for static analysis, results in a singular stiffness matrix unless constraints on fluid motion are imposed. A technique for using this element is presented and when used in fluid-structure interaction problems simplifies the analysis and results in high orders of accuracy.
