Accelerated hydropower development — The best option for India
Abstract
India’s economic hydro power potential has been assessed as 84,000 MW at 60% load factor. So far only 14% of this potential has been developed. The present and future power scenario in India has been presented. Various alternatives to meet the ever growing demand of power have been discussed. Accelerated hydro power development is considered to be the best option to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of power.
