Abstract

The hydropower potentials are part of the energy planning in Greenland. In the course of the years (since the seventies) areas have been localized, partly with a view to building hydropower plants for supplying energy to the towns, and partly “large” potentials designed to optimum the amount of energy produced. The degree of specification of the localized plants varies a lot. The calculation of potentials of urban installations is based on measured values, whereas the potentials for the “large” installations are partly based on direct measurements, partly on interpolations. The three areas for extension of the hydropower facilities in Greenland that are of the greatest current interest are all the small type of plants for supplying the towns.
