Abstract

By means of some geomechanical model tests, the excavation steps of underground openings during the construction are imitated for a large underground hydro-power station in China, and the field of secondary stresses and displacements around the openings produced during the excavation is seriously studied by the authors in this paper. On the basis of the work mentioned above, the stability of rock masses around openings is appraised and some suggestions to strengthed this project are put forword.
