New concepts in spillway design
Abstract
Spreading out the energy dissipation over the length of the spillway channel represents a different concept in spillway design. This may be achieved either trough rough surface energy dissipation or be adapting stepped spillway designs. The design implies moderate erosion/cavitation intensity, which in turn allows for unlined, rough surface spillways as a safe low-cost spillway alternative.
