Abstract

Continuous effort is made to utilize hydropower systems so they give maximum benefit to their owners. With this objective, hydraulic condition monitoring (HCM) has recently gathered interest, partly due to recent developments in measuring equipment and computer software. This paper comments on measuring methods that can be used for calibration of a HCM system, areas of application for HCM and describes a system equivalent to HCM that has been in operation since 1960 at Tunnsj Powerplant in Norway.
