Abstract

Utilized water power accounts for only 11 percent of the known hydro-power potential in Iran. Implimentation of Karoun IV reservoir will result in 10 percent increase in national peak-power generation. This article discusses the methodology developed and applied to this reservoir site in order to optimize the developed Energy. This optimization is achived by developing an optimum, minimum operating rule curve and associated operating policy. The methodology employs a simulation model to simulate power generation for a given installed capacity. By parametric investigation (Step increament), the best combinations of maximum & minimum rule curve is determined. Determination of the optimum rule curve for a given installed capacity facilities the determination of the contract level of the energy.
