Modelling of Shear Band Localisation using interface finite elements
Abstract
The methodology of computing solid mechanics problems with regard to shear band localisation is discussed. In order to avoid mesh dependency and mesh degradation, a band model is proposed. It is based on the interface concept and uses a interface element whose constitutive law is derived from classical geomaterial adapted constitutive equations.
