Abstract

The use of Reinforced Earth was critical to the success of the construction of the Parallel Runway Project at Sydney Airport. The project required extensive reclamation of the sea into Botany Bay. The Reinforced Earth system allowed record construction rates and provided a durability which exceeded the client’s requirements. This paper outlines the elements of design and construction of the Reinforced Earth system.
