Refraction of seismic signals along a dipping layer Part II: Numerical calculations
Abstract
In this paper the numerical implementation of the method of generalized ray for dipping layers developed in Part I (see Borejko and Ziegler (1990 )) is first discussed, and then theoretical seismograms for the horizontal and vertical components of the displacement vector due to various groups of generalized rays are presented. Remarkable contributions from the refracted waves are observed. The effect of the dipping interface on these seismograms is observed by comparison with those for a layer of constant thickness and by noting the unsymmetry at equal epicentral distance of the receiving stations.
