An approach to the solution of dynamic problems of wave propagation in block geophysical medium
Abstract
An approach is suggested allowing substantial simplification of wave propagation problems in media of block structure with contact surfaces. The role of mediators may play not only "pure" contacts, but also inhomogeneous layers consisting of different rocks, with thicknesses much lesser than the length of the waves propagating in the given geological medium. Part of the approach is the use of the corresponding integral transformation with respect to one of the variables, and the only requirement for this application is the coincidence of the line of contact with the other coordinate surface or with its part. One of the advantages of the proposed approach is that it needs no solving of dynamic equations in the layer.
