Lake and reservoir eutrophication: Prediction and protection
Abstract
Hydraulic engineers have made great contributions to civilizations by creating water reservoirs that provide water, flood protection, and electric power when needed. The recognition for these contributions has sometimes been overshadowed by bad water quality. Only in recent years has information from limnology, aquatic biology, ecology, and water chemistry been synthesized with hydrodynamics to develop methods and models for water quality estimation and forecast applicable to reservoirs and lakes.
