Abstract

Seismic sections, or more exactly TIME SECTIONS, give images in the plane ( X,T ) of the different structures in the plane ( X,P ). It is often the case that these images have very different shapes from the structures from which they originate. This is noted in INTERPRETATION 10 and 11 where the two examples below are cited. Two diagrams of a pinch syncline section show a symmetrical structure with points labelled a, a prime, b, b prime, c, and c prime, indicating the geological model and time section. The salt dome section displays a dome-shaped structure with layers labelled 1 through 8, illustrating the geological model and time section. The diagram uses dashed and solid lines to differentiate between the geological model and time section, showing how these structures evolve over time. The relationships between the labelled points and layers are depicted through intersecting lines and curves, indicating the movement and deformation of geological layers. https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href=" https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003761020/e10523ab-dbe3-4c4f-8f3e-863ae3683950/content/pg135_1.tif "/>
