Abstract

From the different elements picked on a time section (reflections and diffractions) and the attribution of velocities (obtained in one way or another) the computer produces the corresponding depths Three diagrams represent the process of creating a seismic depth section, labelled the time section, mean isovelocity curves, and the seismic depth section. The time section at the top shows various labelled lines representing different geological features. Below it, the mean isovelocity curves illustrate the velocity of seismic waves at different depths, with labels indicating specific velocities such as 3000, 4000, and 4500. The seismic depth section at the bottom combines the time section and velocity information to produce a detailed map of subsurface geological structures. Arrows indicate the flow of information. https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href=" https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003761020/e10523ab-dbe3-4c4f-8f3e-863ae3683950/content/pg136_1.tif "/>
