Abstract

The MUTE consists of not using certain parts of the RECORDING because it is too noisy. Two side-by-side graphs comparing signal behaviour in X–T space. The left panel shows an X axis pointing left and a T axis pointing downward, with labels including c = 1, To, and dashed horizontal reference lines marked c = c subscript n. The right panel shows an X-axis pointing right and a T-axis pointing downward with a dense seismic-style texture. A shaded region highlights curved signal trajectories, and a dashed line marks T maximum. A label indicates a curve T of X representing the mute boundary, illustrating how signal limits vary with time and position. https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href=" https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003761020/e10523ab-dbe3-4c4f-8f3e-863ae3683950/content/pg176_1.tif "/>
