Abstract

See : SEISMIC METHODS, 4 A cross-sectional view of seismic reflection exploration. It shows a vertical cross-section of the Earth's layers with arrows indicating direction of seismic waves. At the surface, there is a vehicle labeled REFLEX emitting seismic waves downward. The waves reflect off different subsurface layers and return to surface, where they are recorded. The reflected waves create a pattern of lines and arrows that illustrate how the seismic data is used to map subsurface structures. The background features mountains, trees, and a road with people standing nearby. https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href=" https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003761020/e10523ab-dbe3-4c4f-8f3e-863ae3683950/content/pg233_1.tif "/>
