Abstract

Those velocities which are concerned this time are for angular paths. It may be seen that these velocities, which came from the curvature of the TIME-DISTANCE CURVES depend, this time, not only upon P and T, but also on X. In reality calling : X the distance between E and R To the time for the travel path mMm Tx the time for the travel path EMR and from this, in a homogeneous medium https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> T x 2 = T 0 2 + X 2 V 2 A conceptual physics diagram illustrates a reflection seismic survey setup. It features a horizontal line representing the surface of the Earth, labeled with points E and R. A point M below the surface represents a reflection point. A vertical line labeled m connects the surface to point M. Arrows labeled E and V indicate the paths of seismic waves traveling from the surface to point M and back. The diagram shows the process of sending and receiving seismic waves to explore subsurface structures. https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href=" https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003761020/e10523ab-dbe3-4c4f-8f3e-863ae3683950/content/pg278_1.tif "/>
