Abstract

BINARY GAIN and INSTANTANEOUS FLOATING POINT AMPLIFIERS use an automatic gain control where the changes in gain are not produced in a continuous and variable manner with respect to time, as shown opposite, but in individual jumps in the steps of a scale which have a constant value https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> ( 6 d b for binary gain which corresponds to a gain step of 2). Between each jump, the gain is stable, the jump is set off between the taking of two successive SAMPLES of the same TRACE. EVOLUTION OF AN INPUT SIGNAL WITHIN AN AMPLIFIER. GAIN CURVE - automatic as in 1 or programmed. EVOLUTION OF A SIGNAL OUTPUT BY AN AMPLIFIER : the object of gain is to restore the amplitude of signal within the band of the instantaneous dynamic range, that which in 4 is the equivalent of shifting the instantaneous dynamic range to recover the total dynamic range.
