Impulse Response, 2
Abstract
Knowledge of the impulse response of a physical system allows the response of the system to a SIGNAL to be known. That is the FUNCTION OF CONVOLUTION of the impulse response with the signal defined by : https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> e ( t ) the signal fed into the system (INPUT SIGNAL). https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> s ( t ) the signal received at the output (OUTPUT SIGNAL). The relationship (2) is derived. A diagram illustrates a linear physical system. The input to the system is represented by e of t, which enters the system from the left. The system processes this input and produces an output denoted as S of t. The relationship between the input and the output is given by the equation S of t = e of t times r of t. This equation indicates that the output is the product of the input function e of t and another function r of t. https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href=" https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003761020/e10523ab-dbe3-4c4f-8f3e-863ae3683950/content/pg90_1.tif "/>
