Computer-aided Rock Reinforcement Design of Mine Roadways and Intersections
Abstract
A PC-based computer program (ROCKBOLT V 4.0) has been developed for predicting rock reinforcement requirements in underground mine roadways and intersections. The computer program introduced in this paper is a new version of the ones presented earlier. Using the program the type, pattern, and specifications of the rock reinforcement systems can be selected for various conditions. The rock bolt types considered include mechanical, resin, swellex, and dyna-rok. ROCKBOLT V 4.0 is faster and more comprehensive and user-friendly than its older versions. It also includes a memory resident help, new rock bolt types, and developments in this field. It is a useful tool not only for design engineers and mine operators but also for scientific researchers. In order to provide a general picture of the design guidelines considered in the computer program, important concepts and principles used are briefly described. A worked example is also presented.
