Abstract

There has been a rapid growth in recent years in a new branch of structural mechanics, namely, the theory of optimal design. Numerous investigations have been devoted to the problem of optimal design of constructions consisting of elastic as well as elastoplastic materials. Less attention has been paid to the theory of optimal design of structures whose materials possess creep properties. Only a certain class of specific problems has been the object of such studies [89, 96].
