Abstract

The so-called correspondence principles which establish a relationship between boundary value problems of creep and certain problems of an elastic body play a significant role in the linear theory of creep. The merit of the correspondence principles lies not only in the fact that they make it possible to effectively resolve a wide variety of problems in the theory of creep, but also in the fact that some general results, such as the theorem of reciprocity, are the direct outcome of these principles.
