An approximate method for the design of tailings dams using sub-aerial deposition
Abstract
An approximate method for the design of tailings dams using sub-aerial deposition is described. The predictive model used has been developed from several simulation experiments both in the laboratory and in the field. The method allows for the effects of sedimentation and desiccation upon density and water content with continuous deposition being incorporated. The method can be used for tailings with properties similar to those described in the paper.
