Abstract

During deformation of a granular material, dislocations occur at inter-particle contacts caused by sliding and separation of particles. Plastic deformation of the granular material can be interpreted in terms of dislocation at inter-particle contacts. This paper describes the framework of a general elastic-plastic stress-strain model that takes into account the dislocations at inter-particle contacts.
