Studies of the behavior of granular material and its fabric evolution
Abstract
The behavior of granular material and its fabric evolution under different stress paths was studied by true triaxial tests and numerical simulations. Numerical analysis was performed by a discrete element code, TRUBAL. The effects of initial fabric and intermediate principal stress on stress-strain curves and volumetric behavior were discussed. The relationships between stress ratios, strain increment ratios, and fabric ratios during shear deformation were investigated.
