Segregation phenomena in vibrated powders
Abstract
We have performed computer simulations of shaking-induced size segregation in a three-dimensional model powder. We examine the role of complexity in the coupling between the powder and the applied driving force, and we show that our implementation of non-sequential particle dynamics leads to segregation results which depend on the strength of the driving force. We discuss the scaling behaviour of the segregation rate.
