Abstract

Particulate dynamics simulations have been used to investigate the flow properties of idealised powders (monodisperse spherical particles). The constitutive rheology is calculated from a series of computer simulations, which use homogeneous, shearing periodic boundary conditions with well-defined particle and system-state variables, and corresponding states scaling laws. The predictions, accurately match inelastic, frictional granular dynamics simulations. These are also compared with experimental results, insofar as it is possible, and with kinetic theory predictions.
