Abstract

The aim of this work is the study, by a purely kinematical approach, of the behaviour of granular medium modelled with 6 centimeter long rolls in PVC (vinyl polychlorur) having three different diameters. The problems set by the flowing of granular media are very complicated; the preceding model simplifies their study and gives very good results. Many experiments have been carried out with a two dimensional silo. The different comparisons between experimental results and theoretical velocity profiles, show that the theory of Nedderman and Tuzun can describe the flow of granular media with good approximation.
