Abstract

Recycled concrete is used as a geomaterial to replace gravel in road constructions. It represents a granular mixture of ideally two different types of materials: sand/gravel and cement-stone. The quantitative relation of these components differs due to age, function and quality of the former construction. The ratio of sand to cement stone has a significant influence on the volumetric behaviour. The angle of dilatancy ψ and the compression value λ are the parameter used to describe this effect. Results of various laboratory shear tests with artificial mixtures are presented.
