Abstract

Coal-ash treated subgrade has been used in the test pavements constructed in three prefectural roads and its effectiveness is investigated. Performance of the test pavements is evaluated based on Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) test data. Effectiveness of coal-ash treated subgrade is discussed in terms of elastic modulus derived from a multi-layered elastic analysis. A non-linear elastic finite element analysis is also carried out and the results are compared with those of multi-layered elastic analysis and the field measurements. It is shown that coal-ash treated subgrade provides better pavement performance.
