Prediction v. performance for rockfill dams and other structures using the Velocity Method
Abstract
The Velocity Method, wherein settlement rate is plotted against time to loglog scales, has been applied to the analysis of settlement behaviour of rockfill dams, large cast-in-situ test piles and road embankments. In this format, it is shown that the settlement record often displays discontinuities that may add considerably to an understanding of structural performance but which are incapable of being differentiated from a traditional settlement-time record.
