Abstract

The first concrete floating bridge was proposed in 1921 by Homer M. Hadley. The bridge, built in 1940 served for fifty years; it failed during a reconstruction work after a storm. Service history of this bridge is a testimony to the soundness and utility of the concrete floating bridge’s structural system and utility.
