Experimental research related to the behavior of an ocean-floor foundation pile which receives a cyclic pull-out force due to waves
Abstract
In a structure like a submerged floating tunnel, it is important to make clear the the behavior of piles which receive the cyclic pull-out force due to waves in addition to the static large pull-out force due to buyancy. For that purpose, the cyclic pull-out loading tests by use of model piles(0 30mmX h450mm and 0 100mm Xh2,500mm) were practised in indoor soil containers( 0 300mm X h400mm and 0 1,000mm Xh2,500mm). As a result, it was possible to quantitatively evaluate the decrease of the ultimate pull-out force on a pile when there is cyclic loading. This result is very important for designing actual piles of submerged floating tunnel.
