Environment friendly ferries: Electrically driven in particular
Abstract
The large Norwegian car ferry fleet is studied in the search for alternatives to reduce harmful emissions from existing machinery and alternative fuels and means of propulsion. In this paper the hydropowered battery propulsion system is focused upon and a technical solution is presented, highlighting the system’s superior economy.
