Abstract

A newly completed cablestayed bridge with a main span of 163 m cantilevered from one H-shaped tower is described. The main span bridge beam is designed in high strength LWA concrete LC 55. The main span is stabilized by the approach bridge, with total length 190 m. Prefabricated stays with ø 7 mm galvanized wires in grease-filled PE-tubes were used, which also supported the form traveller during concreting. The design combined aesthetical qualities with simplicity in construction. This cablestayed bridge with a ship channel of 32 x 50 m, is the high level part of the Salhus Floating Bridge.
