Abstract

The new concept for floating bridges without bottom anchoring has been manifested in the Bergsøy Sound Bridge, 845 m, and the Salhus Bridge, 1600 m. A world wide market survey was conducted to investigate the international potential for the new bridge concept, resulting in a list of 133 bridge and tunnel projects longer than 500 meters covering 31 countries. The prospects for the Floating Bridge Concept was, however, very rare. The market survey is being followed up by the publication Norwegian Bridge News.
