The Norwegian experience on strait crossings.* A pattern and a source of knowledge
Abstract
Norway is making important progress during the last 12 years on the field of Strait Crossings. The main effort is aimed to develop fixed links, available 24 hours a day and, mainly, in relation with bridges and subsea road tunnels. This paper tries to summarize the more relevant conclusions from the norwegian experience, scoped from outside Norway, and from that startpoint the paper presents several reflections for an open proposal of methodology to follow for Strait Crossings Planning and Evaluation paying special attention to the subsea road tunnel solution.
