Response of submerged floating tunnels to vertically impinging seismic waves
Abstract
We hereby presents an analytical method to estimate response of submerged floating tunnels to vertical seismic excitations. Based on the one-dimensional duplicate reflection theory, the response of the sea bottom and water to the input earthquake motion is calculated. Also hydrodynamic force on the tunnel is numerically evaluated by using a velocity potential theory. Then an equation of motion of the tunnel is established, and the response of tunnel acceleration and cable tension is calculated for a prototype tunnel.
