A non-linear anisotropic elastic model for overconsolidated clay based on strain energy
Abstract
A non-linear cross-anisotropic elastic model has been implemented in the finite element program CRISP. This will be used for the prediction and back-analysis of ground movements and pore water pressures around a 10m deep instrumented excavation in Oxford Clay. The stiffness characteristics of the Oxford Clay have been obtained through computer controlled stress path triaxial tests on locally instrumented specimens. This paper gives an outline of the implemented model and the determination of the input parameters. The results of initial validation checks are also presented.
