The influence of geometry and end restraint on the strength in triaxial compression in numerical simulations
Abstract
The influence of end restraint on the compression strength of materials is the topic of the described analyses. The calculations also include the effect of the size of the sample. Two numerical simulation methods are used which are formulated according to the upper (KEM; K inematical Element Method) and lower (FEM) boundary theorem. The results are compared qualitatively to results from laboratory tests from literature.
