Practical computations of slope liquefaction
Abstract
A finite element computer program, incorporating a double-hardening constitutive law, has been used to analyse possible causes of failure of an underwater slope. Results show that static liquefaction of the fill may have been triggered by rapid construction methods, or by movements in the soft underlying clay layer upon which the structure was founded.
