Regulation of temperature as a method to control deformation of spoil heaps in Polar Regions

A method to control behaviour of rock spoil heaps by regulation of temperature is suggested based on the results of investigations· It is shown that temperature is one of the main factors effecting on rheological properties of the frozen soils.Relationships of temperature, coefficient of cohesion,coefficient of viscosity,rate of flow and time till collapse have been given in the paper.To control temperature in heaps means to take into account the influence of natural and technogenic factors.The diagrams of relationship of creep rate of heaps were made by the results of the calculations.These diagrams are coincided well with the data of observations of 14 heaps.
