Abstract

The evaluation of the roadbed stability is different in degenerating permafrost region. According to the conditions of the permafrost and the difference of degeneration degrees, the authors proposed four types of design principle, i.e., type A — strictly to preserve the frozen soil; type B — mainly to preserve the frozen soil, but allow it to be thawed; type C — unable to preserve the frozen soil, but able to make thawing speed of the freezing soil layer as small as posssible; type D — treating as deep seasonally frozen soil, but decreasing seasonal frost heave.
