Freezing-thawing kinetics in water and water-saturated soils
Abstract
The kinetics of freezing-thawing of pure water and pore water in soils was under investigations. Laboratory experiments were done for: (1) pure water, (2) weak solutions, (3) water-saturated silts and clays, (4) silt with water solutions. Some correlations are described: (1) temperature of the freezing/thawing front versus its velocity, (2) temperature of the phase front versus solute concentration under different phase front velocities.
