Abstract

Goodman Jack test data obtained in a closely jointed rock mass have been analyzed statistically. The analyses indicate that the method can provide a pragmatic means of obtaining a probability distribution of rock mass deformation properties. The field test data show an extremal probability distribution which reflects the inherent variability of rock mass properties. The results suggest that the use of the Goodman Jack method will help define the variability of rock mass characteristics.
