An integrated seismic-stress-geomechanical analysis of a highly stressed rock mass
Abstract
The research reported herein provides a case study of the integrated use of seismic focal mechanism and stress inversion studies, conventional geomechanics and numerical stress analyses to characterize the behaviour of fractures in a highly stressed rock mass in an active mining environment. In this study, microseismicity recorded within a specified volume around a sill pillar, during extraction of one mining Panel (November 04, 1992 - January 17, 1993), was examined.
