Behaviour of rectangular thin-walled steel frame joints
Abstract
The behaviour of rectangular joints of steel frames under bending moments is studied and a method for the estimation of their deformation and the corresponding carrying capacity is suggested. All the stresses that are developed in the web are taken into account through the analysis, including those that are developed in the area of the web where no plasticity occurs. From the presented diagrams, the critical moments of the joints can be easily obtained versus various parameters.
