Mechanical behaviour of overburden rock of coal seams at high temperatures
Abstract
Results of triaxial experiments are presented to quantify effects of temperature (up to 800 °C) and confining stress (up to 14.2 MPa) on the strength, elasticity, plasticity and creep of two types of coal-related sediments. This paper demonstrates that changes in mechanical properties at high temperatures are essential for understanding the stability and development of underground heated cavities.
